Punkin's Captin' U-Gene is that wonderful face you see on our main page. He has fantastic head type and it has been evident since he was a little boy. He is from our first litter out of Charles River Lucielle x Brandoux's English Name. He is the brother to Varuca, Peanut, Sorrow (Serina), Nigel (Remy), Malcom and Wally (Odin).

U-Gene lives with the Janachek's in NJ in a show home. U-Gene is OFA clear on Heart (cardiologist), Patellas, Shoulders and Elbows, and has a .68/.68 rating on his hips. He is now available to approved females who are also screened for hearts and orthopedics, with approval.

He won his first Best of Breed Puppy July 17 in CT by an FCI judge from Portugal, beating out his brother Malcom and sister Varuca. He then went on to take a Group 1 puppy against excellent competition.

He then went on to win the DDBS NE Regional Best of Opposite Puppy in September of 2004 under Mr. Andre' LeBlond of France, an FCI and SADB judge. We are very proud of him! He also took a BOS Puppy at the Saturday Supported Entry show that weekend under Gonnie Schaffer.

The summer and fall of 2005 he competed often and did fantastic. At the DDBS National Show held in Kalamazoo, MI, he took 2nd place 12-15 month male under Helene Denis of France. He was so excited he could not stop panting! He also won the Costume Contest, as a "Bridesmaid" (according to the judge of the event!)

In June 2005 he was in the ring with his father and his brother. In one show U-Gene beat his father, in another show, Malcom beat his father, this is a great accomplishment, as sons and daughters are supposed to be improvements of their parents, and win against them.

At the DDBS NE Regionals U-Gene received an excellent rating from Sylviane Tompousky of France, and at a seperate show that weekend, U-Gene received a Best of Opposite under Marjorie Tuff, and a Best of Breed and Group 2 under Rita Seibel. At this show U-Gene completed his first championship, he is now a Rarities champion!

In November of 2005, in Allentown, PA, U-Gene took a BOS under Barrie McMath (BOB was JLo!) and in the afternoon took BEST OF BREED under Sergio Gual Fournier, an FCI judge from Spain who specializes in Molossers. Then the big man went on to take a Group 4 out of a class of eight! It was an exciting weekend, and he is only one major away from winning his DDBS Championship!

U-Gene just keeps getting better, on March 11, 2006 he competed in a specialty show under FCI judge Pedro Bispo, past DDBS Nationals Judge and Dogue de Bordeaux expert. U-Gene not only won Best of Breed, but went on to Group 1 and his first BEST IN SHOW! This is the first Best in Show for one of our offspring since Alyce! We are all so very happy!

He is now competing in the AKC ring, going to matches and AKC shows, although the breed is still only in the Miscellaneous class, he, along with all other Dogue de Bordeaux nationwide being show in the AKC, are paving the way for the breed by educating the judges and showing them the glory of the Dogue de Bordeaux.
